KARASU CHANNEL (“this site”) sets out the following Privacy Policy regarding the handling of personal information, so that visitors can use the site with peace of mind.

Information Collected via Contact & Submission Forms

This site has two types of forms: a “Contact” form (work inquiries / horror story submissions / haunted location submissions / Submit a paranormal photo or video / site issue reports / other inquiries) and a “true horror story / haunted location submission” form. Depending on what you send, these forms may collect the following information.

• Name or handle name (optional)
• Email address (optional in principle; required only for “Work inquiry,” so that we can reply)
• Subject/title and message body (the content of your inquiry, or the story/location you’re submitting)

Information we receive is used only for the following purposes.

• To review, respond to, and reply to your inquiry
• To check whether a submitted true horror story or haunted location can be published, and to review/edit the content before publication

The name and email address you provide will never be published on the site. If you’d like a credit (your name or handle name shown) when your submission is published, we may display it as you request. We will not provide the information you give us to any third party without your consent.

Every submission is always saved as “pending review,” and the operator checks and edits the content before deciding whether to publish it. Unapproved content is never shown on the site. Depending on the content, we may decide not to publish a submission.

For submissions made through “Submit a paranormal photo or video,” we also receive the image or video file you attach, in addition to the information described above. Any image or video we receive is used only within the activities of KARASU CHANNEL — such as on our website or YouTube channel — and will not be used for any other purpose.

Information Collected via the Fortune-Telling Page

The date of birth, time of birth, name, and blood type you enter on the Fortune-Telling page are used only within your browser to calculate your reading. This information is never sent to or stored on our server.

Only if you register as a member, log in, and choose to save your fortune-telling profile via My Page (date of birth, time of birth, name including its romanized form, blood type, sex, birthplace, and your partner’s date of birth and blood type for compatibility readings) is that information stored on our server as part of your member profile. Besides saving you from re-entering it, it is used only to show results meant for you alone (such as “Today for You” on My Page and “your lucky days” on the fortune-telling pages) and, if you opt in, to create the “Your lucky days this month” email sent on the 1st of each month. While you are logged in, the result of your daily crow omikuji and a record of which readings you used each day (only the type of reading and the date) are also saved to your member profile so you can see them on any device. If you save more than one person for compatibility readings, their names, dates of birth and blood types are saved, and if you press “Save to my journal”, a summary of that result and the note you wrote are saved as part of your member profile (you can delete journal entries one by one from My Page). The email reminding you the evening before your lucky days is also created from your saved date of birth and sent only if you opt in. You can edit or delete your fortune-telling profile at any time from My Page, and all of this information is automatically deleted when your account is deleted.

If you request a more detailed reading from Ms. M through our Contact form, the information you submit there is handled as described above under “Information Collected via Contact & Submission Forms.”

To improve the fortune-telling experience, the Dream Dictionary (/en/uranai/spiritual/dream/) records only the words that returned no results, together with a count and date. We use these words solely as a guide for adding new dreams to the dictionary. We do not record who searched (no IP address, member information, or device information), and nothing is stored in a form that could identify you. Words containing email addresses, URLs, or long numbers are not recorded.

For members, the Dream Diary and the Today’s Crow Omikuji stamp book store what you record (your dream, the date, how you felt on waking, and the dates and results of your draws) on our server as part of your member profile. Only you can see them; they are never shown to other users. You can delete dream diary entries at any time, and they are deleted along with your other member information when your account is deleted.

When you save or share a reading as an image, the image is created only within your device (browser) and is never sent to our server.

Dreams sent through “Report a dream that is not in the dictionary” are stored privately on our server so that we can write readings and use them as a guide for adding new dreams. Only when a logged-in member sends a report do we link it to the member profile, so the reading can be shown in their dream diary. Reports may be used, without identifying you, to add dreams and write readings. Please do not include names or contact details.

Information Collected via the Games Feature

Your progress in this site’s “Games” section (/games/) — such as clear status or items you’ve collected — is stored only in your browser’s localStorage and is never sent to our server. The one exception is the Hyakki Zukan (Monster Almanac) game: only if you register as a member and log in is some of that progress also saved on our server. In that case it is handled the same way as the member information described above under “Information Collected via the Fortune-Telling Page” — you can edit or delete it at any time.

In addition, a record of the articles (true horror stories, haunted locations) you’ve read — article ID, title, URL, and when you read it — is also stored in your browser’s localStorage, up to a maximum of 500 entries, even if you have never played any of the games. This is used for elements within the games tied to how many articles you’ve read. It is never sent to our server and contains no personally identifying information such as your name or email address. Clearing your browser’s site data (cookies and site data) will also erase this record.

About Our Analytics Tool

To understand how the site is used and to improve its content, this site uses Google’s analytics tool, Google Analytics. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect access information, but this information does not include any personally identifying data such as your name or email address.

This site has enabled Google Analytics’ “Google Signals” feature. For users who are signed in to a Google Account with ad personalization turned on, this may combine data across multiple devices (such as a computer and a smartphone) for analysis. Data collected through this feature also does not include any personally identifying information such as your name or email address. If you do not wish to be included, you can turn off “Ad Personalization” in your Google Account, or disable personalized ads from Google’s Ads Settings.

This site may use third-party ad services (such as Google AdSense). Ad providers may use cookies to serve ads based on your interests.
