Psychology
Blue is linked to calm and distance, reflecting a wish to see clearly and to be sincere. A clear blue sky or sea suggests stability; a deep, sunken blue, loneliness. As "feeling blue" shows in English, blue is also the colour of quiet sadness.
Folklore and history
The old Japanese word ao once covered green and even grey, as "blue" traffic lights and "blue" leaves still show. Indigo-dyed blue filled the everyday life of Edo commoners and is sometimes called a characteristically Japanese colour. Dream lore reads blue as sincerity and calm.
Drinks warm up fast during summer haunted-spot exploration, so a 5-layer insulated soft cooler with an ice pack gives peace of mind. At 3–5L, holding about two 500ml bottles, it's easy to carry beside a car seat or as a secondary bag on foot.

This site's view
In this site's view, ask whether the blue was far or near. Distant sky or sea means a wish to step away; blue clothes or rooms, a mind that has already chosen quiet. If it felt cold, that calm may be a mask over loneliness.
Going deeper: our reading
For a long time the blue rose stood for something that does not exist in nature, and in English it became a figure for the impossible. Later, technology produced roses with a bluish hue, and in Japan they came to carry the flower meaning "dreams come true." Blue is tied to longing for the unreachable. In this site's reading, whether you were trying to obtain something blue matters. Chasing a blue flower or bluebird suggests searching for an ideal or happiness not yet formed. Holding a blue stone may mean part of a distant dream is already yours. A dream set in the blue dusk just after sunset shows a heart seeking the quiet of day's end. This is our speculation, but people tired of staying cheerful for others may find rest wrapped in blue. Its loneliness can be permission to value time alone.
What to do on waking
Take a moment to look up at the sky. Gazing into the distance gives you a healthy distance from nearby worries.

Haunted-spot exploration drains a phone fast between filming, recording, checking maps, and using it as a flashlight, and running out of battery in the dark on site is a serious problem. This power bank has a built-in cable so you can't forget one, plus a display that shows the remaining charge at a glance.
