Psychology
A garden can be read as your inner landscape and the gardener as the part of you that tends it. Pruning and weeding reflect a wish to clear excess thoughts or ties; because trees grow slowly, it may also mirror a wish to nurture things patiently.
Folklore and history
Japanese garden-making has a long history; a treatise on gardens is said to exist from the Heian period. The idea of giving meaning to stones, trees and water lives on in temple gardens. Tending a garden in dreams signals a fuller life and better surroundings.
Driving to a haunted spot while running your phone's GPS, flashlight app, and camera drains the battery fast, and running out on site is dangerous. A dual-port car charger keeps two phones charged up en route.

This site's view
In this site's view, notice what was cut and what was kept. Pruning overgrowth means you are ready to release what you carry. An old tree spared means a memory or person you must not discard. A stranger cutting your trees reveals fear of intrusion into your space.
Going deeper: our reading
At Kenrokuen garden in Kanazawa, ropes are strung around the pine branches as winter approaches to protect them from heavy snow, a practice known as yukitsuri and loved as a seasonal sight. Gardening also prepares plants to survive harsh seasons. In this site's reading, the season of the work is a clue. Spring planting suggests preparation for a new start; summer watering, ongoing care not to let what you have wither; autumn pruning, a time to clear away what is unneeded after the harvest. Winter snow protection reflects a heart guarding what is precious against hard times ahead. Notice whether you were the gardener or someone tended your garden. Another's hands suggest accepting help. This is our speculation, but gazing up at an old tree grown over many years shows your heart beginning to affirm efforts that bear no quick results.
What to do on waking

Summer ruin exploration traps heat under a roof and walls, and combined with the walk there and back, heatstroke risk runs high. An ice vest that cools your core directly just by slipping ice packs into pockets at the sides and back needs no power and layers over or under your other gear.
