Psychology
Killing a creature you loathe suggests the strength to face avoided problems has returned. The cockroach often stands for what keeps coming back, so killing it can express a wish to finish postponed tasks.
Folklore and history
The Japanese name is said to derive from a word meaning a bug that gnaws dishes. As a familiar kitchen pest, killing one in dreams is generally read as everyday troubles being cleared away.
A window net that fits over the car window, letting air in while keeping insects and prying eyes out. It lets you leave the window open without bugs getting in during a late-night car stay or stakeout, and also makes the interior harder to see from outside — good for security and privacy while parked or napping near a haunted spot for a long time.

This site's view
In this site's view, the weapon matters: a slipper means everyday means will do, bare hands a readiness to do the dirty work, spray a time to borrow help. Waking before cleaning up the body suggests loose ends remain.
Going deeper: our reading
Cockroaches are very quick and are said to sense the faintest movement of air and dart away. In this site's reading, people who dream of killing a cockroach are often fed up with worries that keep coming back however often they are chased off, or problems that slip away and hide, and want to settle things for good. Teaming up with family or housemates suggests a time when problems you carried alone can be cleared together. Cleaning the room afterwards suggests a growing will to put right the clutter and disorder at the root of the problem. This is our speculation, but if the cockroach turned out smaller than you thought, you may soon realise the problem you feared was small once it was over.
What to do on waking
Finish one annoying task you have been putting off, or scrub the kitchen sink to reset your mood.
