Psychology
The nose reflects intuition, pride, and the ability to sniff out good from bad. Set at the centre of the face, it may stand for presence and self-regard. Smells stir memory and emotion strongly, so a nostalgic scent may mean the past is shaping your present feelings.
Folklore and history
Japanese idioms tie the nose to pride: a high nose, flaunting it, having it broken. The long-nosed tengu sometimes embodies arrogance, and Akutagawa's story The Nose uses a monk troubled by his long nose to depict self-regard. Dream lore sometimes reads a nosebleed as overflowing energy.
Drinks and food left in the car warm up fast during a summer car-camping exploration, so an ice pack in a cooler bag helps. This standard model claims about 8 times the cooling power of an ordinary ice pack, and freezes quickly enough to prep the night before.

This site's view
In this site's view, what did you smell? Flowers or good food mean sharp intuition for good news; a burning, foul smell suggests the mind senses trouble before it takes shape; a nose growing longer says to watch for pride along with confidence.
Going deeper: our reading
Smell is said to link to memory and emotion more readily than other senses; a scent can bring back a scene from years ago in an instant. In this site's reading, whether you searched for the source of a smell shows where your mind is facing. Wandering the house to find where it came from suggests the mind is trying to pin down an unexplained worry or nostalgia. Smelling something without finding its source may mean you hold feelings that have no words yet. This is our speculation, but a blocked nose that could not smell may express fatigue from reading the air and others' moods, and a wish to close your senses. Worrying about your own body odour may signal growing concern about how others see you. If a change in smell persists, please consult a doctor.
What to do on waking
Choose a scent you love, a soap or tea, and savour it slowly. If nosebleeds are frequent, consult a doctor.
