▲ Leans unlucky (a warning) Traditionally a warning — read it as pointing to what to watch, not as doom
Rest, ease and closeness; relaxing on one means peace of mind, a broken sofa or no room to sit warns you cannot rest.

Psychology
A sofa lets you lean back and let go. It shows how well you can rest and relax with others; Freud had patients lie on a couch to speak freely, so who you talked to there matters.
Folklore and history
The sofa came from the West and spread in Japan as Western rooms replaced tatami, becoming a postwar symbol of family time around the TV. Lounging means a stable home or a need for rest; a torn one, fraying family ties.

This site's view
In this site's view, the empty seat beside you is the key. A place someone always sat, now vacant, shows how deeply you feel their absence; a cushion slowly sinking beside you when alone reveals a wish to feel someone lost still near.
Going deeper: our reading
A sofa is also where you sit down meaning to head to bed soon and wake at dawn, the day never properly closed. When trying a sofa at a furniture store, people picture a new life around it. In this site's reading, a sofa dream can ask whether you are resting or simply unable to move. If you tried to stand but sank back unable to rise, your heart may be checking whether rest has turned into exhaustion. Choosing a new sofa in a shop suggests a wish to rearrange your life or relationships. Arguing over who keeps a sofa you once chose together may mean memories from an ended relationship are not yet fully divided. This is our speculation, but people who dream of dozing off on the sofa may be running so hard that they have no room to close each day.
What to do on waking
Schedule fifteen minutes of doing nothing and just sit. Message someone you would like to sit beside.

Turning a bad dream
In Japan, people once tried to turn a worrying dream for the better: a baku charm under the pillow, telling the dream to a nandina bush, or reciting an old dream-turning poem. Read the column on dream trading and dream-turning
Summer exploration of a ruin or mountain haunted spot often means a long walk in blazing sun, with a high risk of heatstroke and dehydration. Individually wrapped salt tablets are easy to keep in a backpack for quick salt intake alongside water, and easy to have on hand while waiting in the car too.
