Psychology
A spiral staircase reads as growth that circles the same spot while quietly changing height. Psychology sometimes likens inner development to a spiral, meeting the same issue again and again yet understanding it more deeply each time.
Folklore and history
Spirals appear throughout nature, in shells and whirlpools, and many cultures have favored them as patterns of growth, cycles and life force. Dream readers often see a spiral staircase as gradual progress.

This site's view
In this site's view, the key is how often you passed the same window. A view growing higher and wider means real progress despite the circling. The same view and door every lap suggests your mind is trapped in a worry with no answer. Losing track of up and down means it is time to pause and find your bearings.
Going deeper: our reading
Spiral staircases, common in lighthouses and towers, gain height in a small footprint. But climbers only ever see a few steps ahead and behind, so it is hard to tell how far you have come or how much remains. In this site's reading, people who dream of one often feel frustrated at lacking a sense of progress even though they are surely moving forward. It may come during long efforts with unclear goals, like studying for a qualification, raising children or long-term care. Recall whether you went up or down. Climbing suggests your trust in unseen progress is being tested. Descending means you are slowly nearing a deep part of yourself. This is our speculation, but if you kept a hand on the central column, you have a steady core that supports the long climb.
What to do on waking
Write down a worry you keep circling, and add one line on what is different now compared with last time.
