Psychology
Dreams of an emptied village may express having left places or relationships you once belonged to. They often follow moves, job changes or graduation, as your mind still wanders looking for the old home. Traces of life with no one there may mirror lingering attachment.
Folklore and history
Many mountain hamlets in Japan emptied through depopulation and industrial change. Houses, schools and shrines left to return to nature are sometimes treated as haunted spots, yet most were places people lived earnestly. Abroad, ghost towns formed when mines closed are well known.
Disposable non-woven shoe covers you can pull right on over your shoes before entering a ruin or grimy haunted spot. They protect your shoes from mud, dust, and mold or contamination on the floor, and a non-slip finish also looks after your footing.

This site's view
In this site's view, was even one light on? A completely dark village means you are ready to accept what has ended. A lit window means memories of someone waiting, or a place you long to return to, are still alive in you.
Going deeper: our reading
Deserted villages may still hold old calendars on pillars and final lessons on a school blackboard. Daffodils or plum trees planted by a house keep blooming every year after the people have gone. Such places quietly hold the life once lived there, and many are still watched over by former residents or locals. In this site's reading, people who dream of an abandoned village are checking that warm memories still support them from places or relationships they have left. Flowers blooming in a yard suggest past ties still living in a new form. Reading words left on a blackboard or pillar shows a wish to receive messages from a former self or someone else. This is our speculation, but hearing your name called in the empty village may express a feeling that the home or friends you left still wait for you.
What to do on waking
Think of someone you have not contacted in a while and send a short note. A road that seemed closed often reopens easily.
