Psychology
A baseball dream reflects the pressure to deliver in limited at-bats and your place in a team. Stepping up to bat mirrors a chance at hand; dropping a ball in the field, fear of failing a duty.
Folklore and history
Baseball reached Japan in the early Meiji era, spread among students, and became a national pastime. Dream lore reads winning as effort rewarded and wearing a uniform as unity with others.

This site's view
In this site's view, an empty stadium changes everything. Batting alone before silent stands means it is your own unfinished contest, not others' hopes, that haunts you. Night lights going out one by one may signal the close of a season in your life.
Going deeper: our reading
At Japan's summer high school baseball tournament, defeated players famously scoop Koshien soil into bags to take home, proof that they stood there at all. In this site's reading, a baseball player dream can reveal how you receive the time you have invested, which results alone cannot measure. If you lost and gathered soil, you may want to treasure even failed efforts as part of yourself. If you kept practising swings on an empty field at night, you may wish someone would notice the work no one sees. Watching from the bench suggests impatience for your turn mixed with pride in your team. This is our speculation, but a game that will not end in the bottom of the ninth tends to appear when your heart feels it is too soon to give up.

Turning a bad dream
In Japan, people once tried to turn a worrying dream for the better: a baku charm under the pillow, telling the dream to a nandina bush, or reciting an old dream-turning poem. Read the column on dream trading and dream-turning
