Psychology
A model dream shows how you feel under others' eyes. Pride in the spotlight fulfils a wish for approval; discomfort reflects tension about being judged. It often appears when looks and inner self feel out of step.
Folklore and history
In the Edo period, teahouse beauties drawn in ukiyo-e prints became famous; Suzuki Harunobu's portraits of Kasamori Osen are said to have drawn crowds eager to see her. Being seen and captured has long brought both admiration and the unease of handing part of yourself to others' eyes.

This site's view
In this site's view, look at who was watching. A faceless audience means you are bound by the shapeless fear of "the world's eyes"; a single familiar face means that is the person whose approval you truly want.
Going deeper: our reading
In modelling, the clothes, the hair, even the stance and expression are usually chosen by someone else. An artist's model may have to hold one pose for a long time. In this site's reading, a model dream can mirror a mind grown too used to wearing a shape others decided. If you were dressed in clothes that did not fit, your current role may not match your true size. If you were told to stop smiling, or to smile more, you may be tuning even your feelings to suit the room. If you were drawn while unable to move, you may have stopped acting on your own to meet expectations. This is our speculation, but the dream may visit people who find it hard to say no. If you chose an outfit yourself even once, your own will is returning.

Turning a bad dream
In Japan, people once tried to turn a worrying dream for the better: a baku charm under the pillow, telling the dream to a nandina bush, or reciting an old dream-turning poem. Read the column on dream trading and dream-turning
