Psychology
Being trapped mirrors feeling stuck or out of options. Who locked you in is a clue: someone you know suggests being bound by that relationship; locking yourself in, that your own assumptions or sense of duty block the exit. If you felt short of breath, heavy bedding, stale air or bodily tension may have entered the dream.
Folklore and history
Folktales and ghost stories often lock people in forbidden rooms or storehouses, and old mansions whisper of a sealed room hiding something. Some families once punished children by shutting them in a storehouse or closet, tying dark enclosed spaces to childhood fear. Yet seclusion was also a trial for rebirth, as in religious retreats.

It cools your neck directly and instantly, giving a stronger sense of cool than a fan-blade handheld fan, and suits long outdoor location shoots.

This site's view
In this site's view, whether the room had a window is key: a window means the exit is already in sight; no window or door means the exit lies in how you think. Imagine that a sealed room was locked from inside all along: the door you pounded may be one you shut yourself. Check whether a childhood darkness still lingers in you.
Going deeper: our reading
A toilet cubicle, the inside of a car or a cramped storeroom suggests feeling there is no escape in the most familiar corners of daily life. In this site's reading, a room in a vast unfamiliar building reflects a sense of powerlessness against the scale of a system or organisation. In some dreams you are shut in yet strangely unafraid, even relieved. This is our speculation, but that may be a wish to be shielded for a while from the noise of the world. Being trapped with someone reflects sharing the same problem. If they stayed calm, they are someone you can rely on; if they panicked, you may be carrying their anxiety too. How you felt while trapped tells you whether you really need to escape.
What to do on waking
Air out your bedroom and check your bedding is not too heavy. Then question one thing you believe you must do.
