Psychology
Clouds mirror shifting feelings and unformed thoughts. Light white clouds suggest calm prospects; heavy dark ones, approaching worry. Moving clouds mean things are changing; still ones hint at an undecided matter.
Folklore and history
Buddhist tradition says the Buddha comes to welcome the dying on purple clouds, so purple clouds were auspicious; rare clouds were called zuiun, lucky clouds. In tales, rising black clouds herald the uncanny or divine wrath.

This site's view
In this site's view, the point is that clouds change shape with the viewer. What your dream cloud resembled is what your mind is most concerned with now. If it looked like a face, recall whose expression it resembled.
Going deeper: our reading
Clouds are tiny droplets or ice crystals; though they look light, large clouds are said to hold an astonishing amount of water. From an aeroplane, you also notice that above the thick clouds, there is always blue sky and sunshine. In this site's reading, cloud dreams echo both of these. Feeling at ease watching a cloud drift by suggests you are carrying something heavy yet managing it lightly; clouds hanging low and ready to rain may mean pent-up feelings are about to spill over. Standing on clouds, hints that you are gaining a view of yourself from outside your worries. Clouds drifting across the moon or sun may be a message that something precious is only hidden for now, not lost. This is our speculation, but a cloud dream may be telling you that your present troubles have an end.
