Psychology
Being unable to find your classroom in a familiar building reflects confusion about belonging or role. It tends to appear when a new job, team or relationship shakes your sense of where you fit. Whether you ran in panic or searched calmly shows how strong the worry is.
Folklore and history
School gives everyone a set place — a grade and a class, marked by the sign over each classroom door. Dream readers see getting lost in a building as indecision, and in a school especially as uncertainty about one's position among people.

This site's view
In this site's view, notice whether you saw the faces of people you passed. Faceless students suggest ties that have become hollow and lonely. If someone familiar showed you the way, the key to your present confusion may lie with a person who has known you long.
Going deeper: our reading
School buildings are often extended in busy years, with new and old wings joined by corridors, so they can be surprisingly easy to get lost in. Many remember roaming the halls looking for the right room on their first day after a transfer, or in spring when their classroom moved. In this site's reading, the dream often comes when you have not yet found your place in a new workplace or circle. Your mood in the dream helps. Running in a panic about being late suggests strong pressure to catch up. Walking calmly and peeking into unfamiliar rooms shows room to enjoy being lost and a time of exploring new possibilities. This is our speculation, but wandering into an old wing suggests you are leaning on your past ways to adjust to new surroundings.
