Psychology
A leopard reflects a wish to take aim and strike, and the sharp instinct within you. As a solitary hunter it may also show a drive to go it alone, or a sense of carrying something by yourself. Your distance from it shows how you relate to that power.
Folklore and history
Leopards do not live in Japan, so people rarely saw one and are said to have confused them with tigers, even taking them for female tigers. The saying "the noble man changes like a leopard" originally praised someone who swiftly corrects a mistake, likened to the leopard's vivid coat.

This site's view
In this site's view, was it in a tree or on the ground? Watching from above means wait for your chance; running means drop hesitation and move. Being hunted by it suggests the mind is struggling with sharpness or aggression you hold down.
Going deeper: our reading
Leopards are known for sometimes carrying their kill up into a tree, reportedly because prey left on the ground would be stolen by other predators. Hauling a hard-won prize to safety with its own strength shows a shrewd caution distinct from the sharpness of the hunt. In this site's reading, seeing a leopard drag prey up a tree suggests you are carefully guarding a newly won achievement or opportunity so no one can take it. Struggling to haul it up may mean you feel the weight of keeping what you have gained. A leopard's spots are said to help it vanish into dappled light and long grass. This is our speculation, but a leopard hard to spot among its own patterns may mean your sharpness and strength lie hidden where even you have not yet noticed them.
