Psychology
A tall, bold lily reads as an ideal self and a wish for purity. Its strong scent hints at a tension between modesty and wanting to be seen.
Folklore and history
A Japanese saying compares a graceful walk to a lily. In Christian art the white lily symbolises the Virgin Mary's purity. Dream lore reads sincerity and pure affection.
Haunted-spot exploration often means secluded places and nighttime, so a personal alarm to alert others in an emergency is worth carrying. Shaped like a tassel charm, it looks natural on a keychain or bag rather than an obvious "safety device," making it easy to carry when exploring alone.

This site's view
In this site's view, did you smell it? A sweet scent means trust your current bonds. A suffocating scent suggests demanding too much purity from yourself or others. Pollen staining your clothes invites you to forgive small flaws.
Going deeper: our reading
Besides the white Easter lily there are the spotted orange tiger lily and the mountain lily. The bulbs of tiger and mountain lilies have long been eaten as lily root, so a nourishing harvest hides beneath the showy flower. In this site's reading, a lily dream is read by its color and kind. A white lily reflects a wish to stay pure. A vivid tiger lily may show a wish to bring out the strength and passion you have kept modest. Digging up the bulb suggests you are noticing the inner strength that has carried you. This is our speculation, but feeling unsure when handed a bouquet of lilies may mean the ideal image someone holds of you feels a little confining. Watching lilies open in a vase suggests quiet hope for something slow to bloom.

In Japan, people once tried to turn a worrying dream for the better: a baku charm under the pillow, telling the dream to a nandina bush, or reciting an old dream-turning poem. Read the column on dream trading and dream-turning
