Psychology
Getting a piercing suggests a willingness to accept small pain in order to change. Since ears are for listening, an ear piercing may reflect shifts in whose words you heed, and losing one, a shaken commitment.
Folklore and history
Clay ear ornaments are found at many Jomon-period sites, showing ear adornment is ancient in Japan. The long earlobes of Buddhist statues express virtue, and large lobes are still called lucky fukumimi.

Built-in propeller guards make it relatively safe to fly indoors, and its subject-tracking feature can follow the exploration automatically, giving more range to the visuals in a YouTube verification video.

This site's view
In this site's view, recall who made the hole. If you did, you are choosing to change; if someone else did, you are uneasy about being changed by others. Blood from the piercing honestly shows that the change still stings.
Going deeper: our reading
A piercing left empty for a while can slowly close. Many have stopped wearing earrings for a while and found the hole had sealed. Matching earrings with a friend or partner make a bond visible. In this site's reading, piercing dreams find meaning in keeping earrings in and in sharing them. Panicking at a closed hole suggests worry that a decision you once made, or a part of yourself you valued, is fading in daily life. A heavy earring hurting your lobe may show that titles or expectations you took on weigh more than you thought. Wearing one of a matched pair with someone reflects a wish to share something and stay connected even when apart. This is our speculation, but people who have shelved their old style after a change of setting may fuss over their ears in dreams.
