God of war and victory: strength to win and to face hardship.

Psychology
Armoured Bishamonten reflects rising courage. By the threat-simulation view, dreams rehearse challenges, so a guardian warrior before a contest makes sense.
Folklore and history
Bishamonten is one of the Four Heavenly Kings, guardian of the north (Tamonten). Warriors revered him, famously Uesugi Kenshin. Among the seven gods he grants victory and wealth, and is linked to Tiger days.

This site's view
In this site's view, look beneath his feet. Statues often trample a demon, perhaps our own weakness rather than an outside foe. If he frightened you, the fight is inward; if he reassured you, you are ready for outer trials.
Going deeper: our reading
Chogosonshi-ji on Mount Shigi in Nara is known as a temple of Bishamonten. According to its founding legend, Prince Shotoku encountered Bishamonten in the year, day and hour of the tiger, and a large papier-mache tiger stands in the grounds. Such temple traditions made the link between Bishamonten and the tiger widely loved. In this site's reading, those who dream of Bishamonten are at a time to awaken dormant courage and the strength to hold firm when it counts. Seeing him ride a tiger suggests you may ride momentum into a challenge. Bishamonten facing north suggests a time to mind the boundaries you guard and stay alert. Wearing heavy armour yourself shows you accept the weight of responsibility. This is our speculation, but seeing him lower his weapons and stand calmly may mean rest or reconciliation after a struggle is near.
