Psychology
A heaven dream reflects a wish to be free of suffering or to find peace. Dreaming of an ideal place can be the mind soothing everyday fatigue. It can also appear when the urge to escape reality grows, so your feelings in the dream are key.
Folklore and history
Many religions describe a peaceful afterlife, such as the Christian heaven or the Buddhist Pure Land. In Japan, Pure Land faith, hoping for rebirth in Amida's paradise to the west, spread widely from the Heian period on. Dream lore usually treats heaven dreams as signs of peace or wishes fulfilled.

This site's view
In this site's view, did you want to come back? Waking naturally after enjoying the scenery means your heart has recharged. Strongly wanting to stay may mean a burden in your life is heavy enough to make you want to escape. Meeting a loved one there means their memory is supporting you.
Going deeper: our reading
Heaven and paradise have been pictured in many ways across faiths and eras, yet many descriptions share fields of flowers, abundant light, gentle music and, above all, a stillness where nothing needs to hurry. In this site's reading, the scenery and sounds that surrounded you show the kind of healing your heart seeks. Flower fields and soft light express a simple wish to loosen tension and rest. Meeting a loved one again and talking calmly suggests your feelings for them still support you. This is our speculation, but pausing at the gate of heaven and returning without entering may mean that while you long for rest, you sense there is still more you want to do in this life. Honour the importance of faith, and let the dream prompt you to create peaceful moments in everyday life.
What to do on waking
Think of one place where you feel at peace and go there, or recreate that feeling. If the wish to escape persists, talk to someone close.
