Psychology
A red spider lily dream suggests your mind is aware of partings, endings, or closing a chapter. Its vivid red also symbolizes strong emotion, showing unforgettable feelings burning within sorrow. Whether it felt frightening or beautiful shows how you face farewell.
Folklore and history
The higanbana blooms around the autumn equinox, giving it its name; it is also called manjushage. Its toxic bulbs are said to have been planted along rice paddies and graves to keep animals away. Its presence in graveyards earned names like corpse flower, and because leaves and flowers never appear together, it symbolizes longing for someone you cannot meet.

This site's view
In this site's view, was it a single flower or a field? A single bloom points to one parting or memory; walking through a sea of them means sorting many memories as you cross a threshold. If someone stood beyond them, you are beginning to make peace with longing for someone you cannot meet.
Going deeper: our reading
Red spider lilies appear almost without warning in early autumn: bare stalks shoot up and open crimson flowers all at once. This habit of appearing suddenly and disappearing without a trace has long struck people as uncanny. In this site's reading, dreaming of these flowers is not an omen of death but a promise that the season will come round again. Blooming at nearly the same time and place each year, they remind us that bonds with those who have died or gone away continue in another form. This is our speculation, but a white spider lily may show grief softening into gentle memory, and stopping before picking one reflects a heart torn between touching the past and leaving it be.
What to do on waking
Recall one person you can no longer see or something that has ended, and thank it in your heart. In autumn, visiting a grave or offering flowers also fits.
