The number of beginnings: time to start something yourself.

Psychology
Dreaming of the number one can reflect a wish to start something on your own or to stand alone. Facing a new challenge, we fixate on the first step; the dream shows it as the simplest digit. A fear of loneliness may also hide inside.
Folklore and history
In numerology one stands for beginnings, independence and leadership. In Japan the lucky first dream of the year lists Mount Fuji first, and "one" appears in words for the best, the top and the whole clan.
Inside an unwired building like a ruin or abandoned school, placing a battery-powered sensor light that turns on automatically as you approach at your feet or by an entrance helps you spot steps or obstacles a flashlight might miss. No installation needed — just set it down or stick it on, even where there's no power.

This site's view
In this site's view, one has two faces: first place and being alone. Seeing it on a podium means a longing for recognition; as a room number or headcount it may ask whether you are carrying too much alone. One is not the number of loneliness but where counting begins.
Going deeper: our reading
The tea ceremony teaches ichigo ichie, one time, one meeting: treat each encounter as something that will never come again and give it your whole heart. One is not just the first number but the weight of what cannot be repeated. In this site's reading, people who dream of the number one often want to begin something new but feel the first step must not fail,. Drawing a single line on blank paper suggests you are making the first mark on a plan that has no shape yet. Facing someone you have just met shows a sense that this encounter will matter. Standing alone at the head of a line and feeling uneasy reflects the loneliness of going first. This is our speculation, but because it happens once, it need not be perfect, only heartfelt.
