The number of harmony and partners: an ally appears.

Psychology
Dreaming of the number two reflects awareness of a relationship or balance. We find our place through pairs, so a partner, a companion or two choices you are torn between may be weighing on your mind.
Folklore and history
In numerology two means harmony, cooperation and receptivity. Japan values pairs that form a whole, such as married couples or twin guardian lions at shrines. Yet even numbers that "split" are avoided in wedding gifts, so two holds both union and parting.

This site's view
In this site's view, ask whether the two faced each other or turned away. Together, they promise helpers; apart or in conflict, two inner truths may be clashing. It is a time to hear both sides rather than discard one.
Going deeper: our reading
A Japanese idiom, stepping the second foot, describes taking a first step and then hesitating over the second. A three-legged race, where two people with tied ankles must breathe in time to move, has become a picture of working together. In this site's reading, people who dream of the number two are often torn between wanting to move forward with someone and hesitating to adjust to them. Running a three-legged race suggests you feel your partnership working yet worry about the other's pace. Seeing two people alike as twins may mean you are comparing your two faces, the public one and the private one. This is our speculation, but the wish to walk side by side grows a bond even when steps do not match.
What to do on waking
If you face a choice between two things, write one good point for each. Sending a short thank-you to a close partner is another fitting start.
