The number of creativity: what you make with joy bears fruit.

Psychology
Dreaming of three can reflect a wish to create or express. When two things meet and a third is born, that mirrors how ideas form; playfulness is said to spark creativity, and the dream may show that ease as a number.
Folklore and history
In numerology three means creativity, expression and joy. Japanese sayings treat three as the point where things bear fruit — "third time lucky", "three years on a cold stone" — and sets of three, like the imperial regalia, form a whole.
Trekking poles you can use like a walking stick to cut the risk of falling on the way to an abandoned mountain shrine, an old tunnel, or an animal trail with poor footing. Steps and tree roots are hard to see at night, so using two poles makes it easier to keep your balance.

This site's view
In this site's view, notice what the third element was. A new third idea or person hints a breakthrough is near; one of three left out suggests worry about your place in a group. Three holds both creation and the fear of being outside the circle.
Going deeper: our reading
A three-legged stool stands steady even on an uneven floor. A Japanese proverb says that when three people gather they have the wisdom of Monju, the bodhisattva of wisdom: a third person brings answers one or two could not find. In this site's reading, people who dream of the number three are often seeking fresh support or a new viewpoint for a relationship or problem stuck between two. Talking things over as three suggests a third opinion will open the way. Sitting at ease on a three-legged stool shows the three pillars of your life are in balance. A triangle missing a side may mean too much weight rests on one support. This is our speculation, but the dream encourages you to invite one more person in.
