◎ Lucky dream Traditionally a lucky sign
The Egyptian sun god reborn each dawn: a fresh start and vitality.
Category: World mythology (how to read this category)
Psychology
A sun god may reflect rising vitality and bright energy. A rising sun suggests a strong wish to start again; a glare too bright to look at may mean ideals or expectations feel overwhelming.
Folklore and history
Egyptians believed Ra sailed the sky by day in his sun boat and journeyed through the underworld by night, battling the chaos serpent Apep before rising again each dawn. Often shown falcon-headed with a sun disc, he was central to the state; kings were called his sons.

This site's view
In this site's view, remember Ra's night journey: the sun was thought to fight through darkness each night before rising. If you are in a hard night, it is part of the way to morning. A rising sun means vitality returns; a setting sun means rest and gather strength.
Going deeper: our reading
An Egyptian myth tells how the goddess Isis cleverly drew out the hidden true name of the sun god Ra after he had grown old. Knowing a name was thought to mean knowing the core of someone's power. In this site's reading, people who dream of Ra often keep up a bright, energetic face in public while feeling tired or worn inside. Basking in sunlight and filling with strength points to body and mind on the rise. Feeling scorched by harsh sun suggests you are drained by others' expectations or by ideals that shine too bright. Being asked your name, or hearing it called, may mean it is time to look at your true self behind your role. This is our speculation, but those who shine longest most need someone to share their weakness with.
