When you watch the afterword, try to separate rumor from fact. Take Village is often said to be one of the models for Hanyūda Village in the horror game SIREN, but we have found no record of the creators officially saying so. Telling apart what is merely told from what can be confirmed is the basic requirement for dealing with this place.

Our Take

In our view, the village’s reputation owes more to accumulated storytelling than to actual events. The game-model story and the legend of the Jizō curse both rest only on visit reports and oral tradition. This is speculation, but when meaning is attached to a village after its people have left, the first thing lost is the image of the specific people who lived there.
