Psychology
A goat mirrors perseverance on steep paths and independence. Climbing cliffs, it symbolises overcoming hardship, but a stubborn goat may show resistance to change.
Folklore and history
The Old Testament describes sending a goat bearing the people's sins into the wilderness, the origin of "scapegoat". Horned goat images later marked devils in Western art, though goats also link to plenty in myth.
A breakdown on the way to a mountain or backroad haunted spot, with no streetlights around, is genuinely dangerous. This LED stop-signal light is smaller and easier to carry than a traditional warning triangle, mounts to the car body with a base magnet, and is visible to following traffic from about 1,000m at night.

This site's view
In this site's view, goats ask if you carry others' burdens like a scapegoat. Reaching the clifftop shows strength to bear it; a goat leaving into the wild says it is time to set that load down.
Going deeper: our reading
In the Japanese children's song Yagi-san Yubin, a black goat eats a letter from a white goat without reading it, then writes to ask what it said, and the white goat eats that reply too, on and on. It is a sweet song, yet it captures the frustration of feelings crossing and the point never getting through. In this site's reading, people who dream of goats are often caught in exchanges that keep missing each other and going round in circles. A goat eating a letter suggests frustration that your words are not received; delivering a letter to a goat, trying to connect others as a go-between; milking a goat, patient care returning as nourishment. This is our speculation, but the dream may say it is time to meet and talk face to face.
