Part 1 of Episode 3, “The Door to the Third Floor.” The crew enters the abandoned Hotel Céline in Shinanomachi, Nagano.

The hotel is called a haunted spot because of the graffiti said to remain inside and the sightings of a woman’s ghost that grew from it. However, most of the rumors lack backing in news reports and remain urban legends. The building’s size and fame also help spread them.

In this part, the crew enters and reportedly finds something that cannot be easily explained. This is entertainment with staged elements and we do not guarantee its accuracy, but we keep it as a record of what the interior of a long-abandoned hotel looks like. The hotel is now private property and entry is prohibited.

What to Watch For

The point of Part 1 is what condition a long-neglected large hotel is in. Graffiti on abandoned walls is often left by visitors after closure rather than from the days of operation. Please watch with the premise that nobody knows who drew it or when.

Our Take

This is our speculation, but a picture someone first drew on the wall may have fired the imagination of later visitors and grown into the story that “a woman’s ghost lives here.” Rumors sometimes grow not from the building but from the handprints of those who came. We want to keep the perspective of viewing the “abnormal thing” in Part 1 calmly as a combination of visitors’ traces and the environment. If you are struggling, please do not carry it alone.
