Psychology
A dawn dream can reflect a sense that hard times are ending, and hope for a new beginning. The sky slowly paling mirrors a mind beginning to settle and see ahead. Watching dawn with someone may signal a new stage in that relationship.
Folklore and history
In Japanese myth the sun goddess Amaterasu hid in the Heavenly Rock Cave, plunging the world into darkness until the gods' wit and festivities drew her light back out. Dawn is rebirth after darkness, and people still greet the first sunrise of the year with prayers. Dawn is read as a sign of turning fortune.
Working inside a ruin or investigating as a group, a single hand-held flashlight often can't light both your feet and your task while leaving your hands free. This one comes from GENTOS, a Japanese lighting maker known for reliable quality.

This site's view
In this site's view, dawn must be read with the length of the night. Dawn after a long dark walk means the time you endured is about to be rewarded; a quick dawn may mean your worry is smaller than you thought. Twilight that never becomes full sunrise may say one final push remains.
Going deeper: our reading
Sei Shonagon's The Pillow Book famously opens by praising dawn in spring, when the sky along the mountains slowly pales and thin purple clouds trail across it; over a thousand years ago people watched it with deep feeling. Before sunrise, birds start singing in the dark, and newspaper scooters and first trains signal a town waking up. In this site's reading, people who dream of dawn often sense that change is coming even before results appear. Watching the sky change alone at a window suggests time to settle your feelings undisturbed; greeting dawn after working all night, relief that your effort has reached a pause; noticing dawn through birdsong, small changes around you announcing a new start. This is our speculation, but clearly remembering the colors of a dawn sky may show your heart reopening to small daily beauty.
What to do on waking
Wake a little early tomorrow and look at the morning light; it also helps reset your body clock. It is a good moment to choose one thing to begin.
