Psychology
An autumn-leaves dream can reflect ripeness, fruition and a gaze on beautiful change, often in a full period of life. Yet leaves blaze just before they fall, so it may also show a heart quietly accepting an ending.
Folklore and history
Japanese have long gone 'hunting' autumn leaves in the mountains, and the Tatsuta River was celebrated for them in classical poetry. Yet in the Noh play Momijigari a lovely woman feasting among red leaves turns out to be a demon. Vivid leaves are read as fulfilment and maturity.

This site's view
In this site's view, read it by depth of colour and how the leaves fall. Blazing red means your passion is at its most beautiful; dull colour means fatigue has arrived before the harvest. Being lured by a lovely stranger among red leaves may, like the Noh demon tale, urge you to look behind a tempting offer.
Going deeper: our reading
Leaves turn red or yellow as cold approaches because green pigment breaks down, revealing hidden yellow, and new red pigment may form. Trees are also said to shed leaves to conserve water and energy through winter, so autumn color is partly the color of preparing to survive the next season. In this site's reading, people who dream of autumn leaves are often letting go of old roles or relationships bit by bit while preparing for what comes next. Walking on fallen leaves suggests moving forward while savoring the past; picking up a colored leaf to keep, a wish to preserve memories; gazing up at leaves dancing in the wind, letting go with both sadness and lightness. This is our speculation, but the dream may teach that falling is not an end but preparation for new buds.
What to do on waking
